UST Removal Process
Understanding the proper management procedure is crucial whether you discover an unexpected UST on your property or have a recognized UST already there.
Finding the UST’s location and gathering all necessary tank records are the first steps. We will then inform the responsible oversight organization. The UST will then be taken out, cleaned, and taken offsite for disposal. Following removal, soil samples for verification will be taken from below the UST removal region and piping/dispensers (if they were present). Additional analysis and possibly remediation may be necessary if soil tests reveal contamination affects that are above regulatory standards. Typically, soil removal is used as part of soil impact remediation.
Additional communication with the relevant government oversight agencies is necessary for the final phases. The preliminary investigation, removal, sampling, and remediation actions will all be compiled in a UST removal report that will be delivered.
